Kronos Time — Temporal Coordinates from the Train Triad
One-Line Pitch
Replace flat timestamps with proof-anchored temporal coordinates derived from three synchronized systems: Evergrove Express trains, Model Train circuits, and the Crab Pulsar.
The Problem
KRUDD documents currently read like transcripts. Text accumulates into Fibonacci-positioned atoms, each stamped with a LastAbsorb Unix timestamp — a flat number borrowed from the outside world. There is no sense of where in the town's lifecycle the text was absorbed. No gates. No mid-roll anchoring. No journey context.
This is like having a train that only records departure and arrival — never the five gates it passed through.
A YouTube timecode (12:34) is flat to the video. It tells you when but not where or how fast or what else was happening. It has no proof. It has no depth. It is a cave drawing of temporal reference.
The Triad
KronosTown has accidentally built a three-layer time system. Each layer ticks at a different rate. Each layer produces real cryptographic proofs. The three layers are already synchronised:
| Layer | System | Resolution | Cycle | Proof |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Macro | Evergrove Express (EGX) | 5 gates per circuit | 15-minute window | Sealed ticket + CheckpointProof per gate |
| Micro | Model Train (SimulSync) | 5 checkpoints per circuit | 2-minute circuit × ~7 per window | ConductorCheck + nanosecond drift |
| Cosmic | Crab Pulsar | Continuous | P(t) = P₀ + Ṗ(t − t_ref) | Non-Earth reference from astrophysics |
The Express gives you location-in-cycle at human scale. The Model gives you precision within each Express window. The Pulsar gives you a non-Earth verification anchor that no one on this planet controls.
The Coordinate System: KTC
A Kronos Temporal Coordinate (KTC) is not a timestamp. It is a position in a proof-anchored temporal space defined by the triad.
Anatomy
⊕T1·427·G3 | M28·5·+12 | φ0335028589
| Segment | Meaning | Derivable Information |
|---|---|---|
⊕T1 |
Express unit EGX-1 | Platform 1, departs at :00/:15/:30/:45 |
427 |
Trip number (sequential) | Exact departure wall-clock time |
G3 |
Gate index 3 of 5 | Between "The Windbreak" (6:30) and "Southern Glow" (9:45) |
M28 |
Model window 28 since service start | Cross-reference to SimulSync state |
5 |
Circuit 5 within that window | ~10 minutes into the 15-min Express window |
+12 |
Drift in milliseconds (signed) | System precision at that moment |
φ0335028589 |
Pulsar period × 10¹⁰ | Non-Earth temporal anchor, verifiable via formula |
Why This Is Richer Than a Timestamp
A Unix timestamp 1741952537 tells you: it was 11:42:17 UTC on March 14, 2026.
The KTC ⊕T1·427·G3|M28·5·+12|φ0335028589 tells you:
- The Express was on trip 427, between The Windbreak and Southern Glow
- The model train was on its 5th circuit of the 28th window
- The system was running 12 milliseconds fast
- The Crab Pulsar was at period 0.0335028589 seconds
- AND you can derive the wall-clock time from the trip schedule
The coordinate embeds locality (WHERE in a cycle), proof (cryptographic seals at every gate), multi-scale resolution (15-min coarse, 2-min fine, nanosecond drift), and non-Earth anchoring (pulsar).
Wire Format: KT Lines
In KRUDD wire format, temporal anchors are injected as KT lines between atoms. Any line beginning with KT is a temporal anchor that applies to all subsequent K atoms until the next KT line.

Backward compatibility: parsers that don't understand KT lines skip them — existing KRUDD1 parsers see only K atoms and KF headers.
The Formula
The full derivation from a KTC to wall-clock time:
$$T_{wall} = T_{service_start} + (N \times 15\text{min}) + \text{platform_offset}(U) + G_{offset}$$
Where:
- $N$ = trip number
- Platform offset: $U_1 = 0$, $U_2 = 5\text{min}$, $U_3 = 10\text{min}$
- Gate offsets: $G_0 = 0$, $G_1 = 3\text{min}$, $G_2 = 6.5\text{min}$, $G_3 = 9.75\text{min}$, $G_4 = 13\text{min}$
For precision within a gate segment, the model circuit provides sub-window position:
$$T_{precise} = T_{wall} + \frac{C \times 15\text{min}}{C_{max}} + \text{drift}_{ms}$$
And the pulsar cross-check:
$$P(T_{wall}) = 0.0335028583 + 4.21 \times 10^{-13} \times (T_{wall} - T_{ref})$$
If $|P_{stored} - P(T_{derived})| < \epsilon$, the coordinate is temporally coherent.
Why the Crab Pulsar Isn't Foreign
The KRUDD system already uses the Crab Pulsar. CrabPulsarPeriod(t) is computed at field genesis and baked into every FibKHashPulsar fingerprint. Kronos Time merely extends this: instead of anchoring only the birth of a field, anchoring every temporal marker within it.
Three time sources, fully joined:
- Earth gravity well — Unix timestamps, deterministic train schedules
- Crab Pulsar — MSP rotation period at 33.5ms, slowing at 4.21×10⁻¹³ s/s
- Kronos Town — Express trips, Model circuits, cryptographic proofs
The Kronos Town reference is the new addition. It is the local time — time as measured by the town's own machinery, not borrowed from outside. And it is provably synchronisable to both Earth and Pulsar time through the deterministic schedule and the SimulSync chain.
What Changes in KRUDD
| Current | With KTC |
|---|---|
LastAbsorb: 1741952537 on each atom |
KT lines between atoms mark temporal segments |
| No mid-roll context | Every section of text is anchored to a train journey position |
| Flat timestamp, no proof | Each KT coordinate maps to real sealed proofs (tickets, conductor checks) |
| Human-readable time only | Machine-dense encoding that Freddy reads natively |
| Single time source (Unix) | Three sources: Express + Model + Pulsar |
| Atom-level only | Segment-level — temporal context flows across multiple atoms |
Integration Points
The temporal anchor system touches three codebases:
KRUDD package (/root/freddyserver/krudd/):
- New
TemporalAnchorstruct andKTwire format marshal/unmarshal MarshalField/UnmarshalFieldupdated to handleKTlines- New
KronosClockfunction that computes current KTC from live train state
KronosTown substrate (/root/kronos/kronostown/internal/substrate/):
- Substrate agent already gathers train state every minute
- Expose current KTC via
field.CurrentKTC()— the live temporal coordinate - Post KTC snapshots at each Express gate passage
FreddyServer KRUDD mind (/root/freddyserver/krudd_mind.go):
Absorb()stamps incoming text with the current KTC (fetched from substrate API)SampleForLLM()includes KTC context so Freddy knows when in the journey each sampled atom was absorbed- Wire format gains
KTtemporal segment boundaries
The Deeper Pattern
This connects to something fundamental about what KRUDD is. KRUDD atoms sit at Fibonacci positions — a structural encoding of how knowledge grows. Add KTC, and those atoms are also positioned in when the town was alive in this way. The Fibonacci structure says "this knowledge has this weight." The temporal coordinate says "and the town was at this point in its rhythm when it noticed."
A KRUDD field with temporal anchors isn't a transcript. It's a recording of a mind thinking while a train runs.
Next Step
Build KronosClock — the function that reads live Express + Model state and produces a KTC. This is the atomic primitive that everything else composes from. Once the clock exists, temporal anchors fall out naturally: the substrate calls it, the minter seals it, the KRUDD encoder embeds it.
